FAQ
Why subscribe to the AWD System?
We believe that our system works and the select group that subscribe with us can profit from it. It is not a get rich quick approach, rather an approach that generally (not always) beats the market and provides returns that are solid and reduce market risk. Each person who decides to invest needs to find a style that works for them, and we have found ours which we share on this site with only a handful of subscribers.
What is the recommended starting capital?
Any starting capital will works long as you can cover commissions. Our experience tells us that $10k is best to start and be able to get enough profit to cover commissions with your broker, but you can (and probably should) start with any amount. There is no better time to start investing than today and the experience you gain will be very, very valuable as you get older. Think of it as waiting to start playing a sport until you have all the latest gear from Under Armour... best cleats, best pads, best under shirt, etc. Forget it, just get out there and start playing. If you do not, you will be losing valuable time to gain experience while everyone else is passing you up. Procrastination is the worst decision you could make. People get ahead through ACTION!
Do you really cease investing in the market if you reach 17% to 18% return?
Yes, we do not get greedy and attempt to squeeze every ounce of profit out of the market. We prefer a comfortable annual profit rather than running the risk that all our gains could be erased with one swift unexpected movement of the market. The saying goes, “Pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered.”
What is the cost?
We offer annual subscriptions only, and the cost is $99. If you join us mid-year, we will pro-rate the subscription by the month (e.g. If you subscribe anytime during the month of June, the cost will be 6 / 12 * $99 = $49.50).
Do you offer monthly subscriptions?
No, due to the low price of our annual subscription, we only offer annual subscriptions.
Do you offer refunds?
Due to the low price of subscriptions, we do not offer refunds.
Do you offer trial subscriptions?
Due to the low price of subscriptions, we do not offer trial subscriptions.
Why is the site is CLOSED to new subscribers?
We often keep our site subscriptions closed to new subscribers. Our style of reducing our risk requires us to sell covered calls, which also tends to enhance our profits. The involvement of options in our trading system provides a less liquid market for trading, and we have no desire to have an actual impact of the price of the options we are trading, so we must limit our subscribership. The best way to describe it is to think of a small fish jumping in the pond versus a big fish jumping in the pond. We do not want to be noticed.
Why do you not want to get noticed?
If everyone were doing the same thing in the market, then that system would likely cease to function. We prefer to keep it small.
If you do not want to be noticed, why do this at all?
The saying goes, “it takes money to make money.” We re-invest into this system, building our system capital. The system is not a get rich quick scheme for the market, it is a system proven to outperform the market which will make you rich over the longer term. We are hard working people like you, saving money to invest. We use the small amount generated from this site to re-invest in this system. We say the amount is “small” because we truly do limit the number of subscribers. We have significantly limited the number of people that will consider subscribing to this site by forcing you to make your own investment decisions based on the information we present. Each subscriber must open their own investment account, make trades themselves, sell covered calls, etc. We do not sell the recipe for this system nor do we invest on behalf of other people, this further limits our impact to the market. If you are even reading this, congratulations because you are one of the few people in the world that take personal control of your financial investments.
How often do you open your site to new subscribers?
We do not have a set period for opening the site to new subscribers. We monitor our transactions very closely to make sure that they do not impact the securities we are trading. We do offer an email service wherein we will email you when the site will be opened to new subscribers. To sign up, please click here. We will not spam you in any way or sell your email address to anyone. We hate spam as much as you. You will only receive an email when subscriptions become available and that may take some time as our core subscribers tend to stay with us for a long time.
What kind of performance can I expect?
Please refer to our performance page for information. Past performance is not an indication of future performance. Stocks and options have risk.
Are subscriptions automatically renewed?
Yes, subscriptions are automatically renewed in the first week of January of each year for a subscription that same calendar year. We will send out a reminder email approximately one month prior to the renewal. You are welcome to cancel your subscription at any time. Due to the low price of subscriptions, we do not offer refunds.
Why do we like covered calls?
We like covered calls largely because we get paid upfront for some profit (or insurance) on our stock. It is sort of like renting your stock to someone for a price and you get to control the initial parameters. Also, since you actually own the underlying stock, you will benefit by receiving dividends (unless the unlikely event of early assignment occurs). However, please do not take our word about the benefit of covered calls; take the word of someone like Suze Orman. She has endorsed selling covered calls on her show:
How is advice regarding updates and recommendations issued?
We issue our information via email and also as updates to our website.
How often do you make recommendations?
We are typically invested between about 40-60% of a trading year. The remainder of the trading year we maintain cash positions. During our periods of investment, we typically project one trade per month (one buy AND one sell = one trade), although there are periods when there are more trades.
Your site says the current signal is NOT INVESTED. What does this mean?
Because we are typically invested in the market about 40-60% of the trading year, we wish to be upfront with new subscribers about when we are invested in the market. We do not want to be on a NOT INVESTED signal (i.e. we are all cash) and sign up new subscribers that are eager to begin trading when we are not trading.
Do we get a notice if the signal changes?
Only actual subscribers will get the signal. It will be emailed to the email address you provide to us for contact.
Do you recommend a broker?
No, we do not recommend a specific broker. Most discount brokers have relatively similar pricing and the commissions are usually pretty small if you are working with a reasonable amount of starting capital. Personally, we like TDAmeritrade and Scottradefor their trade triggers which allow you to set a trade to trigger at a given price instead of having to set and leave open a limit order that all the market makers get to see as soon as you place it. If an order is open and the market makers can see it, they will sometimes “nudge” the market in that direction to take out all those orders that may be profitable to them.
